Statement on Accessibility

The Leibniz Institute for Educational Media | Georg Eckert Institute (GEI) is committed to making its web pages accessible in accordance with national legal regulations that implement Directive (EU) 2016/2102 of the European Parliament and the Council of Europe on the accessibility of the websites and mobile applications of public sector bodies.

Legal basis

The legal basis is the federal disability equality act (BGG), the disability equality act for Lower Saxony (NBGG), and the Lower Saxony directive on the accessibility of information technology in public sector bodies (NBITVO) in their applicable valid form.

The technical requirements stem from the directive on accessible information technology (BITV 2.0).

Compliance with requirements

This website is only partially compatible with the requirements of EN 301 549, the harmonised European standard for digital accessibility. This assessment is based on a self-evaluation conducted in August 2024, which particularly focussed on elements such as website structure, contrasts and graphics.

Preparation of statement

This accessibility statement was created and last revised on 02.08.2024. It applies to the website currently available at edu-reviews.edumeres.net.

Non-accessible content

The project from which this website originates: ‘Schulbuchrezensionen’ [textbook reviews], was concluded on 1 January 2019. The website itself was no longer being updated, either technically or with new content, for some time prior to that date. Although we made all reasonable attempts at the time to make the website accessible to the largest group of users possible and to remove barriers to accessibility, according to current standards this internet site does not fulfil the requirements of an accessible website. It does not meet the required standards in aspects such as contrast, tabular navigation or focus. It also does not contain content in plain or simplified language and there are errors in the hierarchy of headings.

As we do not intend to update this website in future, with the exception of security updates, and have changed its status to that of a static archive page, we trust you will understand that in this case we invoke section 9 para. 2. 1 (1) of the NBGG (Lower Saxony Act on Equal Opportunities for People with Disabilities) in conjunction with article 1, para. 3.h and recital 32 of the EU-Guidelines 2016/2102 and will not be updating this website in terms of accessibility.

Feedback und Kontakt

If you should require any information on non-accessible content, please do not hesitate to contact us. We will endeavour, where possible, to provide you with the requested content in a form accessible to you. Please send an e-mail with the subject ‘Barrierefreiheit‘ [accessibility] to schwerbehindertenvertretung[at]gei.de.
